Character's name: Miranda Lotto
Character's LJ:

Character's canon: D.gray-man
Brief (around 300 words) personality outline of your character:
Miranda has raised nervousness and anxiety to an art form. She's spent her entire life being a perpetual screw-up, believing that she is useless. When we first meet Miranda she is depressed, gloomy, and utterly believes that she is a complete failure. Her default reaction is panic.
But, after becoming an exorcist, Miranda began to pull out of her perpetual state of failure, and became less gloomy and depressed. She is no longer as nervous as she once was - but, she is still much more anxious than the average person. She often worries about whether she is doing the right thing, or about her friends.
Due to her life spent being a failure, Miranda has a low sense of self-esteem. Because she feels insecure and useless, she often assumes that everyone else also thinks she is useless – even when that is not the case. As such, when she does screw up (or thinks she has) Miranda will apologize profusely, and attempt to repent in some ridiculously excessive way – such as jumping into the ocean.
Despite her many failures in the past, Miranda will keep on trying - even when she knows she cannot succeed. Sometimes this tendency makes her depressed, as she thinks that it might be better to just give up, but it also makes her extremely hard-working. The one thing she desires more thank anything else is to be helpful, and given the opportunity - and the support - Miranda will put everything she can into her task.
And when the safety of the people important to her is at risk, Miranda will be even more hardworking: to the extent that she will put her own health and well-being at risk to protect others. She hates to see people hurt, particularly her friends, and she will do anything she can to protect them. But when Miranda is unable to help someone, such as due to the limitations of the Innocence, she will feel her inability keenly and wish she were strong enough to do so.
Brief (around 500 words) history and background of your character OR link to a really good wiki page with their history. In either case, explain where they cut off from the timeline:
Taken from: not long after Chapter 157
For all of Miranda's life, she had been a complete failure. She was clumsy, always being fired from her jobs, and constantly told she was useless. The children living in her hometown would even call her "Bad Luck Miranda". No one would ever thank her for anything, or accept her. Naturally, this left Miranda with a low self-esteem and a tendency towards depression.
Her life continued like this until one day, Miranda found an old broken grandfather clock in an antique store. No one could wind it up, and so it was going to be thrown out because no one wanted it. But when Miranda tried to wind the clock, it worked. She felt a connection to this clock that wasn't wanted, like her, and seemed to accept her clumsy self. So she took the clock home and looked after it, meticulously cleaning it.
Miranda’s life continued to be one failure after another, and when she was fired for the hundredth time, Miranda crawled home to her clock where, in a bout of depression and drunkenness, she wished tomorrow would never come. Which it didn’t.
Suddenly, Miranda found herself in a time loop, reliving October 9th over and over again. Every day, her neighbors would have a fight, the town children would mock her and throw dog poo at her, a carriage would splash muddy water at her, and no one else would notice.
However, on the 29th time she live through October 9, something changed. She was attacked by a demon (which she would later learn was called an akuma), asking her where the "Innocence" was. But before the akuma could kill her, a young man in a black coat intervened and attacked the akuma. Miranda noted that like the demon, he too was something different from the "normal" October 9.
Despite the fact that a strange monster had just attacked her, Miranda ran away joyously from the battle. Because she believed that the fact that something different had happened meant that she had finally escaped from the time loop she'd been trapped in.
But when Miranda woke up the next day, she found it was still October 9. She hadn't escaped the time loop at all. But as she continued through the day, she saw the young man who'd fought the akuma walking through the crowds. Realising that he might have something to do with why yesterday's October 9 had change, she followed him to an inn. She hid several tables away while he talked to a young woman, but she couldn't hear anything.
But while she tried to get closer, the young man spotted her. Instinctively, she tried to run away by jumping through the window. However, the boy caught her.
She learnt that they were Allen and Lenalee, two exorcists. She begged them to help her, but they were attacked by three akuma. Allen remained to fight the demons, while Lenalee flew Miranda back to her home. Miranda stared in horror as Allen was caught up in an explosive battle.
Back at Miranda's apartment, Miranda is freaking out over the appearance of monster and the strange, clawed hand Allen had been using during the battle. While telling Lenalee that she can't calm down, the key to the clock that she wears around her neck falls out from underneath her collar and she falls over.
Miranda thinks that Lenalee will think she'd stupid, for keeping the key, but Lenalee disagrees, saying it must have precious memories for her.
Soon Allen returned, saying the akuma ran away mysteriously. But Miranda has been obsessively cleaning the clock ever since Lenalee told her that the akuma were demons, muttering to herself.
She yells at Allen and Lenalee to hurry up and fix the town with their great powers, and is surprised when Allen says, "OK", and asks for her moment. But at that moment, Miranda goes still, then suddenly goes to sleep. Then time starts rewinding, and Allen and Lenalee realise it's the clock that's causing it.
Miranda wakes up, wondering why she's in bed.
They soon theorise that the clock must be Innocence, and discover that only Miranda can touch the clock. Allen reasons that Miranda must be the cause of the rewinding time - and Miranda explains that on the first October 9, Miranda had been fired for the 100th time.
From this, Lenalee says that Miranda must be compatible with the Innocence, and has already synchronised with the Innocence. And therefore, Miranda is the only one who can make time go back to normal.
Allen and Lenalee then begin trying to get Miranda a job (in the hopes that it will cheer her up and stop the time loop). After three more days, Miranda is trying out for her 34th job - selling tickets for a play, while she is dressed as a witch and Allen does tricks with a pumpkin on his head. They are doing well, until the money for the tickets is stolen. While Allen and Lenalee chase after the thief, Miranda starts crying, wondering why she's so useless, and why the clock has to be her Innocence.
A young girl - who is in fact Road, a Noah and one the Millennium Earl's (the creator of the akuma) family - overhears her. Road then captures Miranda, and takes her into the dream world that she is able to create. There, Road impales Miranda's hands to the clock with sharp stakes, and then brings the now captured Lenalee and Allen there. Lenalee is paralysed from an akuma's attack, and Road stabs Allen's eye with a candle, while Miranda squeals and tries not to look.
Allen tries to fight back, but is overcome by three akuma. Road then moves to attack Miranda, but Allen managed to move in front of her to protect her from the attacks. He takes the stakes out of her hands, and Miranda crawls away, terrified. But she looks back, and sees how badly injured is - pleading, she asks him not to die. Allen says he's all right - and with newfound determination, Miranda moves back to protect him from the akuma, even though she's terrified.
She thinks she's an idiot, for trying when it's impossible and she can't do anything. But then, the innocence activates, and a circular dome covered with clock faces appears around Miranda and Allen. Images of clock faces emerge from Allen, and his injuries disappear - Miranda has taken away the "time" of when he was injured.
Allen goes ot of the dome, and brings back Lenalee, so that the time from her injuries is also taken away. When she recovers, Allen tells her that they were saved by Miranda's innocence - and thanks Miranda. Having been thanked for the first time in her life, Miranda starts to cry.
Allen and Lenalee then dome to fight Road and the akuma. But soon after, Miranda begins to sweat from the effort of maintaining her Innocence.
At the end of the battle, when Road leaves, Miranda and Allen and Lenalee are returned to her apartment, where Miranda is straining to keep her Innocence activated. Lenalee tells her to stop, but Miranda refuses - knowing that if she does, the stolen time will return and Allen and Lenalee's injuries will come back. But Allen tells her to stop, saying that they are alive thanks to her, and they will recover.
She deactivates her Innocence, and all their injuries return. She races off to get a doctor.
Soon, time is back to normal, and people from the Black Order arrive to take care of Allen and Lenalee, and to take Miranda to the Order to be an exorcist. Happy, and feeling like she now has a place, Miranda leaves for her next job.
For a few months, Miranda lives at the Black Order headquarters, where she learns to control her powers. Her innocence is forged into the Time Record, a black disc that allows her to manipulate time. She is then sent to accompany a group of other exorcists consisting of Lenalee, Lavi, Bookman, and Krory (Allen had been with this group, but he was seriously injured in their last battle). The group was planning to travel to Edo, Japan, by ship - but their ship had been badly damaged by akuma. But, Miranda is able to use her ability, Time Recovery, to restore the ship to working order. However, when she sees everyone's stunned faces she mistakes this for shock at her rudeness, because she didn't ask permission first. Apologising profusely, she jumps into the sea (fortunately, Lavi fishes her out).
While drying off, Miranda hands the other exorcists their new uniforms, which Komui had asked her to give to them. As she witnesses Lenalee and Lavi's distress over Allen apparent death, she hopes that with her new abilities, she will be able to protect them.
She also explains that her ability will restore any new damage to the ship, and will also reverse any injuries the people on the ship gain. However, her ability is also only temporary, and she explains that she cannot restore the dead - if anyone receives a fatal blow, they will die as soon as she stops Time Recovery. Bookman asks if she herself will be okay - because she'll need to stay awake for at least five days to reach Edo. Miranda says that she is used to staying awake, from when she was unemployed and would stay up contemplating her uselessness. However, her slightly insane giggling doesn't reassure everyone.
Later in the journey, Miranda realises that a part of the ship is rapidly recovering - they're under attack. She and the others go above deck to find a level three akuma attacking Lavi. A horde of akuma hiding in the clouds also begins to attack the ship. Miranda is nearly hit, but a group of crewmen move to protect her - she asked them why, when they will just regain their injuries. But they explain that they've already been hit, and their deaths are inevitable - so they might as well protect Miranda.
Then, the ship begins to sink - it's the effect of the Level Three akuma's gravity ability. Miranda is confused - her ability should stop this - but then she find that the akuma's gravity chains have wrapped around her Time Record.
Lavi and Krory manage to counter attack, and destroy the attacking akuma (although Miranda is considerably freaked out by Krory's mention of "delicious blood"). Then, the see a light in the distance, where Lenalee was fighting the Level Three, and the chains around Miranda's innocence disappear.
Lavi, realising that Lenalee could be in trouble, attempts to leave the ship to find her. The crew and Miranda try to stop him - she tells him not to be violent towards the crew, and is worried about his health. He yells at her, wanting to know why she seems calm and isn't worried about Lenalee - but in fact she is very worried, about both Lavi and Lenalee. As she says, Lavi is human too. But, Lavi leaves to find Lenalee anyway.
Lavi returns with Chomesuke, a modified akuma who is on their side, and Lenalee, who is encased in a crystal made from her innocence. They learn from Chomesuke that Cross is alive, and attempting to destroy the akuma plant. However, he also tells them to go home if they will go in the way. The crystal around Lenalee then disappears, and Miranda and the others are relieved that she is still alive. The group decides to continue on to Edo, despite Cross's warning.
But, because of all the Time Recovery she had to do during the battle, Miranda is exhausted. She's also upset - because she know that when she stops her invocation, the crew who were mortally wounded in the fight will die. Both Lavi and Lenalee reassure her that they will help her, and that she is not alone.
The exorcists, and the few crew members who were not mortally wounded then gather on the desk, so say goodbye. But, most of the crew are actually below deck, enjoying their last moments of life with a rowdy party. Miranda is distraught that so few survived, but she hears the sound of the crew telling them to win for their sakes, and Anita tells them that they have nothing to regret.
The survivors get into the small boat, and as they row away Miranda cries as she releases her innocence, and the ship is destroyed.
They then arrive at Edo, where Chomesuke will guide them to Cross. Another modified Akuma, Kawamura, arrives - but she is actually caught in the trap of a Level Three akuma. The group flee, and hide from the group of Level Threes that come to eat Kawamura. Soon after, Chomesuke tells them that she has received a message from the Earl, the creator of the akuma, telling the akuma to gather together.
They follow Chomesuke to the place where the akuma are gathering, and attack the akuma and the Noah. But the battle doesn't go well, because the akuma are merging into giant akuma, and the Noah are so strong. Miranda keeps out of the way in the battle, using her Time Out ability to keep all damage from coming into a building that will be their base. However, she can't keep it up for long, and soon she collapses, allowing the Noah Tyki Mikk to grab Lenalee.
The Earl order the giant akuma to blast the entire area, destroying everything in it's path - but Miranda manages to recover enough to protect her and the other surviving crewmembers from the blast. However, the others have managed to survive, and Miranda soon joins up with them, and Kanda, Noise Marie, Tiedoll, and Allen, who had all joined the battle. But, the Earl uses the arc, a large cube that can transport people from one place to another, to take Lenalee - and Allen, Lavi, Kanda, Krory, and Chaoji (one of the surviving crew members) follow her, leaving Miranda behind with Bookman, Tiedoll, Noise Marie, and the other two crewmembers. While looking up at the arc, Miranda hears Bookman speaking in a strange language.
More giant akuma arrive, and Miranda stays with the two crew members while the others fight, so that she can keep them safe and focus on using her innocence on those in the arc. However, she in only removing past injuries - she won't be able to take away any new injuries.
As time goes on, Miranda notices the time of people in the arc - Kanda, and then Krory - vanishing. Naturally, she is distressed at this.
Then, when the arc itself begins to disappear, Miranda tries to use her Time Record to stop it. But she in unable to, and the arc disappears, now under Allen's control. Miranda breaks down crying, apologising to all those people who were in the arc and disappeared with it because she wasn't strong enough. But then, arc returns, and Miranda cries grateful tears, because the vanished time has returned. Then, she along with all the others returns back to the Black Order Headquarters.
Later, Miranda is recovering in the hospital wing, along with Lenalee, who is also recovering in the same room. She laughs at Komui's antics over his injured sister, and when he leaves she remarks to Lenalee that she looks very happy.
But soon, Headquarters is invaded by Lulu Bell, a transforming Noah who has come to retrieve the Earl's akuma plant.. Through her communication golem, Miranda receives the order to head to the arc's third gate, which will take them to the fifth laboratory. Miranda then arrives with Noise Marie and the five generals to aid Allen and Bookman in the fight, where she uses her ability to heal the injured and prevent anything from happening to the akuma plant. She stands to the side, and is amazed by the power of the generals.
Komui decides that the akuma plant will be destroyed, and Miranda is order to stop her invocation so they can do so. However, before she can she it attacked by Lulu Bell, who had turned into water, enveloping her. Lulu Bell tells Miranda to cease her invocation, and she does - most likely because she is unconscious.
While she is knocked out, the generals attack the egg, and Allen moves in to take Miranda from Lulu Bell and move her out of the firing range. Then, while Lulu Bell has disappeared into the arc, one of the attacking akuma has evolved into a Level Four. The Level Four attacks, destroying the entire fifth laboratory. But Miranda managed to wake up in time to use Time Out to protect her and the others who would have been caught in the blast. When the fires caused by the blast are extinguished, Noise Marie tells her she's done enough, and she can stop her invocation. But unfortunately, while Miranda kept most safe, some of the Order's scientists and finders did not survive.
Sample post (just a general, everyday, puttering-around-the-ship post; please include a snippet of dialogue):
Miranda awoke in a panic.
She was smothered! Covered entirely, oh God, Lulubell had returned, she was going to down her, she couldn't breathe!
But then the pop that enveloped her opened, and Miranda tumbled out onto the floor. For a moment she lay there still, gasping. She wasn't drowning; she was alive. Lulubell wasn't going to kill her...
And then Miranda looked down, and screamed.
"My clothes!" she cried, frantically trying to cover herself with her hands. She was naked! Oh god, what if someone saw her...what if one of the other Exorcists saw her? She would have die, shrivel up into nothingness from the shame. "Where am I?!"
||You are here.||
Miranda looked around wildly. Someone was talking to her! "Who are you?" she whispered, fearful. "Are you one of the Noah? Please, why...why did you bring me here?"
||You have been Chosen to accomplish a Great Purpose. You have been Chosen to help fight the Ohm, a race of insectoid beings that are the destroyers of worlds.||
||You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left. The others are waiting for you. They will explain everything.||
Chosen? The Innocence had chosen her. It had given her a purpose; a reason to live. A way to help the people important to her. But when she looked around, she couldn't see anyone from the Order.
She sat still on the cavern floor, shivering, and tried not to think of all the horrible things that would happen to her if this was all the Millennium Earl's doing.
If the character has magic, mutant, or otherwise metahuman abilities, please explain what they are and outline EXACTLY how they function, as their powers may not work due to the nature of the ship or may need to be limited somehow:
As an exorcist, Miranda has the ability to use her Innocence, Time Record. The Time Record is a black disk, with two circles orbiting the center. Both of these circles have a number of smaller circles, or spots, traveling along them. When activated, the Time Record will spin and these circles will spin off and encircle the area affected by her ability, and anything that is being affected by it.
This allows her to use two abilities that manipulate time; the first, Time Recovery, will recover, heal, and restore anything that is in a particular zone. While activated, a gigantic clock face will appear above this zone. This power is temporary – once she deactivates her innocence, all damage that was made to people and objects while Time Recovery was activated will return. She cannot return the dead to life, she cannot erase time (only reverse it), and she cannot affect things which are particularly powerful.
Her second ability is Time Out, which creates a defensive space where time stops, preventing any attacks from coming into that space.
Recently, she has also shown the ability to use both Time Recovery and Time Out at the same time.
Non-superhuman special abilities of note (Is your character a master ventriloquist? A naturally-occurring super-genius? The best martial artist in the world? Say so here):
Miranda can stay awake for long periods of time (ten days is her record), and while this is a dubious skill, it does come in handy for when she needs to keep her innocence activated for long periods of time, and will not be able to sleep.
She is also good at running - particularly when she's running away. Miranda is the master of the hasty exit.
Other than that, she's mainly known for her lack of useful skills.

||You are here.||
Miranda looked around wildly.
