[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Miranda Lotto
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Fandom: D.Gray-man (manga)
Timeline: From chapter 170
History: There's a little bit of history on The DGM Encyclopaedia, but if you need more I have got a detailed account in her journal.
Character Personality:
Miranda has raised nervousness and anxiety to an art form. She's spent her entire life being a perpetual screw-up, believing that she is useless. When we first meet Miranda she is depressed, gloomy, and utterly believes that she is a complete failure. Her default reaction is panic.
But, after becoming an exorcist, Miranda began to gain some self-esteem, and become less gloomy and depressed. She is no longer as nervous as she once was - however, she is still much more anxious than the average person. She often worries about whether she is doing the right thing, and when she does screw up - or thinks she had - she will apologise profusely, and attempt to repent in some ridiculously excessive way.
Due to her life spent being a failure, Miranda is somewhat...paranoid. Because she feels insecure and useless, she often assumes that everyone else also thinks she is useless – even when that is not the case. As such, when she does screw up (or thinks she has) Miranda will apologize profusely, and attempt to repent in some ridiculously excessive way – such as jumping into the ocean.
And despite her many failures in the past, Miranda will keep trying, even when she knows she cannot succeed. Sometimes this tendency makes her depressed - as she thinks that it might be better to give up - but it also makes her extremely hard-working. The one thing she desires more is to be helpful, and given the opportunity - and the support - Miranda will put everything into her task.
And when the safety of the people important to her is at risk, Miranda is even more hardworking, to the extent that she will put her own health and well-being to protect others. She hates for others to be hurt, and will do anything she can to protect them. And when Miranda is unable to help someone, such as due to the limitations of the Innocence, she will feel her inability keenly and wish she were strong enough to do so.
Character Abilities:
As an exorcist, Miranda also has the ability to use her Innocence, Time Record. The Time Record is a black disk, with two circles orbiting the centre. Both of these circles have a number of smaller circles, or spots, travelling along them. When activated, the Time Record will spin and these circles will spin off and encircle the area affected by her ability, and anything that is being affected by it.
This allows her to use two abilities that manipulate time; the first, Time Recovery, will recover, heal, and restore anything that is in a particular zone. While activated, a gigantic clock face will appear above this zone. This power is temporary – once she deactivates her innocence, all damage that was made to people and objects while Time Recovery was activated will return. She cannot return the dead to life, she cannot erase time (only reverse it), and she cannot affect things which are particularly powerful.
Her second ability is Time Out, which creates a defensive space where time stops, preventing any attacks from coming into that space.
Recently, she has also shown the ability to use both Time Recovery and Time Out at the same time.
Miranda can also stay awake for long periods of time (ten days is her record), and while this is a dubious skill, it does come in handy for when she needs to keep her innocence activated for long periods of time, and will not be able to sleep.
In addition, she is very good at running - particularly when she's running away. Miranda is the master of the hasty exit.
Character Weaknesses:
Miranda's main weakness is her lack of self-confidence, and her tendency to blame herself. She possesses depressive tendencies, and her default reaction tends to be “panic”. She is also very clumsy, and has practically non-existence skills. In fact, it's highly likely that other than being an exorcist, staying awake, and running, Miranda has no skills. And even if she does know how to do something - like sewing - she typically isn't very good at it.
[ WEAPON SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Weapon:
As an Exorcist, Miranda is a strictly support type - notably, she's the only Exorcist without an offensive ability. As such, she does not fight herself but rather remains in the background and supports others. Therefore, she could only ever be a Weapon, where she can support others.
What is your character's Weapon form?:
As a Weapon, Miranda becomes a silver fob watch, with an long, extendible chain (essentially having two parts: watch and chain). Potentially, the fob watch could be used to hit the enemy much like the Olympic hammer throw, with the meister spinning the chain around and tossing the watch towards to opponent. Or, the chain itself can be used to trip or tie up the enemy. But the chain and fob watch itself aren’t exceptionally strong – the watch isn’t very big (it’ll pretty much fit in the palm of someone’s hand), and physically, Miranda’s weapon form is average in terms of power. With training Miranda might be able to pack more of a punch; however, Miranda’s Weapon form is primarily defensive in nature, not offensive.
Her real usefulness comes in her abilities - The first being similar to her own Time Recovery. This ability will recover, heal, and restore the Meister by taking away the "time" of their injuries (or clothing, if for some reason they want to restore clothing damage). But like Time Recovery, this ability does not last permanently - once she returns to normal, everything that she restored will return to normal. At first she'll only be able to use this over a small area, but eventually she will be able to cover a larger area with it. While this ability is being used, the clock face glows and spins around wildly.
Her second ability is like her Time Out - this is a "shield" that surrounds the fob watch. This shield looks like a glowing barrier, which typically takes the form of a cylinder or sphere around the Meister. It prevents the time of all incoming attacks from entering the shielded space. This space is large enough to cover just her Meister, but she may be able to shield larger areas in time. The strength of this barrier depends on Miranda will – while she can pretty much keep everything and anything about, repeated attacks will wear her down, and more powerful attacks will wear her down faster. Eventually, with enough firepower thrown at it, Miranda’s shield will fall. (This could also potentially be used to add extra strength to a bludgeoning attack, but as this is dependent on Miranda’s will and she’s not really the bludgeoning type, this isn’t likely to be very strong.)
She can use both abilities at the same time, but this is extremely difficult and she can’t keep it up for long (especially if the shield is being attacked).

Um...am I doing this right? I thought I pressed the...Oh! It’s on!
Ah…Hello? Um...I...I think there’s been a terrible mistake. See, Allen was meant to be taking us back home but…this isn’t home…and Allen and Inspector Link and Kanda aren’t here...
So I...I’m really not meant to be here, and I need to get back home…Can somebody help me?
Third Person:
Late at night, if anyone were to wonder into the art department, they'd find an interesting sight. The place is a mess - all over the floor are failed paintings, discarded because they weren't good enough. They weren't anywhere near good enough. And over them all is a trail of orange paw prints, left behind by the small kitten that is bounding around, getting in the paint, and scratching up the canvases.
And in the centre of it all is Miranda, sitting before an easel. The canvas she's working on shows only average skill, but there's something...disturbing about the image. Misshapen humanoids with long thin limbs and oversized round heads loom over the landscape, and in the sky above them all is a large shining cube.
Miranda stops, looks at the canvas, and picks it up. She tosses it over to the other side of the room and it hits the wall with a dull thud.
She doesn't want to look at it anymore.
The kitten bounds over to her, meowing softly. She gives the kitten a small smile and scratches her behind the ears. "I know, Teacup. I should think about happier things..."
With tired resolution, she picks up another canvas, and starts painting again. This time, she'll paint a different scene - a boy with a pumpkin head balancing on a ball.
Maybe if she paints a happy scene, she'll be happy too.
